Working for the University of Minnesota Medical School, Arlo created a short animated video to support the launch of a new heart health monitoring app developed by the university. This video guides potential users through The 3’ Heart Health and Fitness Test, showcasing its simplicity and effectiveness.

To kick off the project, Arlo collaborated with the doctors who developed the app to gain a comprehensive understanding of its functionality and to help develop the script. From there, he created a storyboard and a series of short animations to establish the narrative and art style for the project. Once the story and style were approved, Arlo developed a character sheet for the communications team and developers to review and choose from. The video was designed to be approximately two minutes long and would feature just two characters. It was essential to create a diverse range of characters, spanning various ages, genders, and races so that the two characters selected would effectively represent a broad audience. Arlo began animating scenes from his storyboard after the team had chosen the desired characters. Early in the process, he recorded one of the doctors involved in the project to provide the voice-over narration. With keyframes prepared and the narration completed, Arlo finished the animation and constructed the full video.
